Amazon requires a contains-synthetic-performer tag on product images that feature AI-generated people (for the background on the rule, see Amazon's AI image rules explained). This guide is the how: a whole batch of images, done in minutes, with a way to verify it worked.
Everything runs in your browser — images are never uploaded, which matters because pre-launch product shots are usually confidential.
Step 1: Open the tool, confirm the tag
Open the tagging tool. The tag field is pre-filled with contains-synthetic-performer — usually leave it as is.
To write several keywords at once (say, adding a brand term), separate them with commas. By default existing tags are kept and the new one is appended, so you won't wipe labels you added earlier.
Step 2: Add your AI product images
Drop the images you want to tag onto the drop zone. JPG and PNG are supported — the two most common Amazon image formats.
To go in bulk, drop a whole folder, or click "Choose a folder" — hundreds at once. Each image shows a thumbnail and file size so you can check what's loaded.
Step 3: Write and verify
Click "Start writing". The tool writes the tag into each image's XMP and IPTC metadata, one by one. After each write it reads the file back and verifies, updating the status live:
- Tagged: the tag really went in — good to use;
- Verify failed / Failed: something's wrong with that file (e.g. corrupt) — retry it alone or swap it out.
When it's done, download files individually, or click "Download all as ZIP" to grab the whole processed set at once.
Step 4: Confirm it yourself
The tool auto-verifies, but spot-checking one image before listing is reassuring.
Windows: right-click the image → Properties → Details, and look at the "Tags" row — you should see contains-synthetic-performer.
macOS: Finder won't show the keyword field, but Terminal will: run mdls filename, or install ExifTool and run exiftool -Keywords -Subject filename — both read out the written tag.
Common questions
Will it blur or enlarge my image? No. The tag lives in metadata — file info, not pixels. Quality, dimensions and format are unchanged, and file size barely moves.
Can I redo a mistake? Yes. Existing tags are kept and appended by default; to fully reset, turn off "keep existing tags" and write again.
Can it handle WebP or video? This tool focuses on JPG and PNG. WebP, video and A+ rich media need ExifTool / FFmpeg instead.
